Timeline of "Eight Worlds" stories
A downside of reading The Ophiuchi Hotline is that it's the capstone of the Eight Worlds, a long series of stories. For anyone who wants to read the stories in order of internal chronology, there's a good fan-created timeline available at

Nitpicks: The first stories don't really belong in the Eight Worlds; the list should really start with "Options". If you scroll down, you'll see a note from John Varley explaining this; Varley blames himself for not making it clear enough in the stories. Also, Steel Beach and The Golden Globe are recent novels that Varley doesn't believe really fit into the series.
